Canadian Produce Marketing Association

The Canadian Marketing Association (CPMA) is a non-profit organization representing companies that are active in the marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables in Canada from the farm gate to plate. The vision of the CMPA is to enable and lead the produce industry by improving market and facilitate trade in fresh fruit and vegetables for its members. It was founded in the year 1925 in Ottawa, Ontario, May 19. The main objective of this association is to establish and maintain an organization of fruit and vegetable wholesalers and brokers, business promotion and social relations between its members, the advancement of the interests of trade fruits and vegetables in general by all appropriate and legitimate methods, the collection and dissemination of information, resistance and correction of discrimination and abuses transport companies, agencies or sales combinations in restraint of trade, encouraging competition by honorable methods and equitable adjustments without any grievances and differences, corrections and no commercial harm and abuse , discountenance all customs are not in accordance with the solid business principles. Training and implementation of these plans will ensure the named objects and mutual protection and benefit of its members in the regulations, conditions and limitations provided by law. The result was a combination of industry pioneer called "Canada Fruit and vegetable Eastern Jobbers". In 1965, the name changed to the Association of Canadian Fruit Wholesalers which later in 1989 was named as Canadian Produce Marketing Association. The first National health Summit was organized by the Canadian marketing Association, in collaboration with the Canadian public health Association in the year 2013. CPMA is now celebrating its 90th anniversary.

Produce marketing associations are increasing worldwide keeping in view of the safety supply of the fruits and vegetables. These societies are both national and international.  Some of These associations are working on specific topics such as consumer trends, food safety and services, supply chain standard, sustainability, global retail management etc. Some of the these Societies in different parts of the world are as follows:

USA Produce Marketing Societies: There are nearly 70 American Produce Marketing societies and association in United States of America which covers wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables market supply chain. These societies are located in different parts of USA such as Baltimore, Chicago, Florida, California, Texas, Georgia, Illinois and Ohio.

European Produce Marketing Societies: In European region there are almost 55 European Produce marketing societies and associations located in UK, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Norway and Netherlands. Next to USA, Europe is considered to have excellent facilities and infrastructures. These societies were established with an aim of improving the food quality and safety during the long chain trades.

Asia- Pacific Produce Marketing Societies: Asia is the largest and the most populous continent. There are many food marketing societies and associations in different countries. Majority of the societies are located in Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines and Singapore.In Asian countries there 85 Asian Food and Marketing Association and Societies approximately.

Middle East Produce Marketing Societies: Societies and Association located in the Middle East region are almost 35 in number. These are mostly located in Turkey, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. These middle-east Produce Marketing societies and associations helps in long term supply chain of fresh vegetables and fruits across the globe.

 Produce Marketing Association Conferences: Every year nearly 110 Produce Marketing meetings and conferences are scheduled by these societies in different parts of the globe. These international Conferences and Meetings are intended to bring together all the recent researches, new innovations and findings in a global platform.
