The Clinical Orthopaedic Society

COS Founded in 1912, the assignment of the Clinical Orthopaedic Society is to enhance the science of the physical examination as the central constituent in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal circumstances and to educate society on orthopaedic issues impacting patient care. In Chicago in 1912 the Central States Orthopaedic Club was founded with 28 members, the President existence Dr. John Lincoln Porter of Chicago, Illinois. Members, some of whom were also associates of the American Orthopaedic Connotation celebrating its silver anniversary, were from the central states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. The club was intended to become the opening "show and tell" orthopaedic organization. By 1923 the organization had grown and the name was transformed to the Clinical Orthopaedic Society. The original philosophies of the originators were "the estimation in different cities of substances related to orthopaedic surgery and the free conversation amongst its members of orthopaedic methods and teaching". COS boared members are President: William C. Warner, Jr., MD, First President-elect: Robert M. Peroutka, MD, Second President-elect: James A. Slough, MD, Secretary-Treasurer Ricardo J. Rodriguez, MD, Librarian-Historian: Dabney Y. Hofammann, MD, Immediate Past President: Bess E Brackett, MD,  Past President: L. Andrew Koman.

Some societies are also located in different other countries, whereas their head offices are located in USA.  As of today approximately 105 Cancer Societies, 65 Immunology societies, 55 Cardiology Societies, 35 Diabetes societies, 42 Nursing societies, 36 Toxicology societies are located in different parts of USA  such as Baltimore, Chicago, Florida, California, Texas, Georgia, Illinois and Ohio.

European Medical Societies: In European region there are almost 425 medical societies and associations located in UK, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Norway and Netherlands. Next to USA, Europe is considered to have excellent research facilities and infrastructures. There are almost 52 Pathology societies, 30 Immunology Societies, 32 Nursing Societies, 42 Neurology Societies, 20 Dermatology Societies, 19 Dentistry Associations, 105 Cancer Associations and 34 Ophthalmology societies along with many other societies and associations, these societies were established with an aim of improving the scope and interaction among the researchers and the scientific world.

Asia- Pacific Medical Societies: Asia is the largest and the most populous continent. There are many medical societies and associations in different countries, which will be almost 575 societies in number approximately. Majority of the societies are located in Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines and Singapore. In Asian countries there are around 98 Cancer Societies, 110 Diabetes Societies, 85 Food and Nutrition Association and Societies, 42 Cardiology Societies, 25 Nephrology Societies and many other societies on diverse field are present in Asia- pacific countries which are contributing towards the research world.

Middle East Medical Societies: Societies and Association located in the Middle East region are almost 376 in number. These are mostly located in Turkey, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. In Middle East, nearly 48 Dentistry Societies, 32 Cancer Societies, 52 Diabetes Societies, 25 Surgery Societies, 79 Pediatrics Societies along with many other societies, associations and organizations are supporting the researchers and scientists to accomplish their researches in the particular research field.
